The BCCM consortium consists of seven Biological Resource Centres (BRC),
which are coordinated by a central team at the Belgian Science Policy. Each of the BRCs is specialised in a specific domain,
and works in close cooperation with its host laboratory and host institute.
Structure of the BCCM consortium:
Each collection is managed by a promoter and a BRC manager. The collections are organised according
to their 3 main activities:
- preservation and supply of biological resources
- services
- research
Collections' staff is supported by specialists in bioinformatics,
quality management and a secretariat.
The functional organisation chart of the BCCM collections is
presented in the following diagram:
Within the BCCM consortium, decisions are taken at two levels:
- The BCCM management committee defines the strategic vision of the consortium and
sets out the working method for the consortium along with the way in which the strategic decisions must be implemented;
- The working groups work at the request of the BCCM management committee;
the working groups observe operational project follow-up and also exchange knowledge regarding certain topics.
