Fungal strain isolation from samples

Samples (liquid or solid) can be analysed to evaluate their fungal content. Samples are homogenized and plated on non-selective culture media and at different growth temperatures. The amount of each fungal morphotype can then be estimated using microbial counting, resulting in a quantitative overview of the sample content. Each morphotype can also be isolated and identified more precisely using eighter MALDI-TOF MS or DNA sequencing.
