On Monday February 19, the event ‘IMPACT of the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant in industrial biotechnology – Towards a sustainable economy’ took place in Ghent, in the presence of Mr. Philippe Muyters (Flemish Minister for Work, Economy, Innovation and Sports).
Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant (BBEPP) is a pilot facility for the development of the biobased economy. BBEPP assists companies with the development of new products such as bioplastics, biodetergents, biosolvents, biomaterial, …. It helps enterprises with the risky and expensive scale-up of lab scale processes.
The inauguration event was the official start of the innovative ‘IMPACT’ project that enables BBEPP to enlarge its Downstream Processing capacity and gas fermentations in the newly built ‘blue hall’.
Ann Hellemans, manager of the BCCM/LMG Bacteria Collection, and Martine Vanhoucke, manager of the BCCM/GeneCorner Plasmid Collection, represented BCCM with a booth!
