(1)Only to the depositor or to third parties with the depositor's written authorisation.

(2)A new batch for long term storage is prepared when necessary, for example when the batch is depleted.


Additional charges

Bacterial cultures are routinely forwarded in freeze-dried form. A lab fee of 15,00 EUR will be added for bacterial cultures requested on agar.

A discount of 10% is offered when ten or more strains are ordered at the same time.

VAT (21%) will be charged, if applicable.

Each order of biological material is subject to a handling, packaging, shipping and bank fee of:

  • 10,00 EUR for orders within Belgium

  • 30,00 EUR for orders within the EU and Switzerland

  • 50,00 EUR for orders within the rest of the world

From 03/11/2010 all orders for Biohazard Group 1 strains will be sent by EMS Taxipost.

Shipping of Biohazard Group 2 strains must follow the special requirements from the UN Model Regulations for correct packaging and shipping of Dangerous Goods. This implicates that a special type of packaging must be used and that the parcel must be transported by a recognized courier.

In these cases the costs for handling, packaging, shipping and bank fee are:

  • 45,00 EUR for deliveries within Belgium

  • 75,00 EUR for deliveries to EU countries

  • 90,00 EUR for deliveries to other countries

In exceptional cases, bacterial strains are supplied frozen on dry ice. Such shipments are sent using a recognized courier (see Shipment of Biohazard group 2 strains). An extra fee for the dry ice and special packaging will be charged. A detailed price will be given upon request.

a The first order should be sent on an order form or letter with official letterhead, signed by an authorized person.

b Only possible if you have a BCCM/LMG customer number, which will be allocated to your company/laboratory after your first order. Orders sent by e-mail or via the website without a customer number will NOT be accepted

Specifications to be mentioned in the order form/letter for strain supply

For strains from the public collection, please specify:

  • the exact identification of the requested materials (name and LMG strain number);

  • the form of supply c: freeze-dried, active, genomic DNA;

  • the invoice address if different from the shipping address;

  • in case of payment by credit card: name of credit card holder; credit card number, expiry date;

  • VAT (Value Added Tax) number, if existing.

Material Transfer Agreement

Material from the public BCCM/LMG collection is supplied under the conditions of the BCCM Material Transfer Agreement (MTA). The recipient accepts the terms and conditions of this MTA by placing an order with BCCM/LMG.
