Properties: This host strain is a derivative of the W3110 strain and can be used for bioengineering where purified products with reduced endotoxicity are desirable. lpxM, a Kdo2-lauroyl-lipid IVA myristoyl-ACP acyltransferase, a gene involved in lipid A biosynthesis, was removed from the W3110 strain using CRISPR technology to produce a strain that significantly reduces dendritic cell activation.
Further information: This is the progenitor strain for a versatile suite of glycoengineering strains for various downstream applications, such as glycoconjugate vaccine production.
