Terminator: Simian virus 40 polyadenylation signal (SV40 polyA)
Selection marker: Ampicillin (amp)
Replicon: Escherichia coli plasmid pMB1 origin
Simian virus 40 bidirectional origin (SV40)

Further information: This plasmid can be used for fusion of a cDNA of interest to the GAL4 DNA-binding domain (GALbd) to study, in mammalian cells, the effect of the fusion protein on a reporter gene with a GAL4 binding site as promoter (e.g. pUAStkCAT).
The nucleotide sequence of this plasmid corresponds with the EMBL Nucleotide Sequence Database accession number LT727369.1.
The nucleotide sequence of pABgal has been compiled in accordance with the description in Baniahmad et al. (1992) and in Giguère et al. (1986). The 3' region of GALbd and the multicloning site have been sequenced at the Department of Biomedical Molecular Biology (Ghent University, Belgium) with the use of oligo 175. The nucleotide sequence upstream of GALbd (from nucleotide position 1381 up to and including 1950) has been analysed by BCCM/GeneCorner on collection number LMBP 3660.
Other names of the plasmid are Gal4/3 and pGalAB.
