This suite of 11 E. coli strains was created by sequential deletion and/or addition of genes, aiming to increase expression of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines. All strains express a detoxified endotoxin, which is a concerning contaminant of therapeutics produced in bacterial cells. This set of strains was published in Kay et al. (2022).
