Prof. Dr. Paul De Vos, the former director of the BCCM/LMG Bacteria Collection, was awarded the Bergey Medal in recognition of outstanding and life-long contributions to the field of systematics of Bacteria and Archaea.
Ordinarily, the Bergey Medal is presented at a public meeting. Due the Covid-19 pandemic the trustees of the Bergey’s Manual asked Prof. Peter Vandamme, the current director of the BCCM/LMG Bacteria Collection, to present the Bergey Medal to his colleague Prof. Paul De Vos.
