Genome sequencing, Genome assembly, Phylogenomics and Mining for bioactive compounds

This BCCM/ULC bioinformatics service is exclusively dedicated to genomic samples (culture or environmental) containing cyanobacteria. The genome sequencing is outsourced to the GIGA Genomics Platform and can be done using Illumina or Nanopore sequencing technologies. It is also possible to perform the sequencing yourself.

The bioinformatic service includes genome assembly from short reads (Illumina) or long reads (ONT/PacBio). The assembly can be performed in metagenomic mode to exclude unwanted organisms and retain only the cyanobacterial genome. The resulting private genomes are compared to public genomes, and a phylogenomic tree based on orthologous proteins (OGs) is inferred. These OGs are calculated for each dataset since specific core genes are inferred for each sample. Jackknife analysis is offered as an option, as well as phylogenomic analyses based on DNA. A search for secondary metabolites and ANI matrix generation is also available. Discounts for scientific partnerships are offered.
