Detection of genes responsible for microcystin production by PCR

Unicyanobacterial or mixed samples can be analysed by PCR for the presence of genes responsible for microcystin production. If required by the customer, the amplicons can also be sequenced by Sanger sequencing.

The service report provided to our customers includes a description of the used methodology, an agarose gel electrophoresis picture confirming the presence or absence of genes for the microcystin production and, in the case of Sanger sequencing, a list of the most closely related species available in the GenBank database at the time of the analysis, with the obtained sequence similarities, a phylogenetic tree (ML and/or BI) for the analyzed gene marker.

Please contact us if you wish to order this service or if you are interested in confirming the presence/absence of other cyanotoxins in your samples.
