The plasmid is meant for the constitutive expression of the sucrose synthase from the prokaryotic and nonphotosynthetic organism N. europaea in E. coli BL21 DE3. The nucleotide sequence of the N. europaea SuSy coding sequence was codon optimised for expression in E. coli.
