| Further information: | pDelta1 is a nonviral shuttle vector based on mouse mitochondrial DNA that can be used to shuttle from mammalian cells to recA(+) E. coli. The plasmid does not remain episomally in the mammalian cells, but tandemly integrates into the genome in many copies, and this allows to shuttle back to E. coli. It comprises the xanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase gene (XGPRT) as a selectable marker for mammalian cells. pDelta1 contains the SV40 small t-antigen splicing signal. The orientation of the mouse L cells mitochondrial DNA is not known. Since the nucleotide sequence is not completely known, there is uncertainty as to the cutting frequency of the restriction enzymes indicated. Other name of the plasmid is pDelta. |
