| Further information: | The plasmid was constructed as follows : the XhoI-SmaI fragment of pBLCAT5 (containing the cat gene) was inserted between the XhoI and SmaI sites of pSVL. The SV40 late transcripts have multiple cap sites. The most important transcription initiation site is at nucleotide position 853 (cfr. L325 in SV40). The plasmid gives functional chloramphenicol acetyltransferase expression after transfection into COS cells. |
