| Further information: | pVS44 is a self cloned variant of the staphylococcal plasmid pC194. It contains a mutated sequence near the plus origin, extending the host range, so that the plasmid can also transform lactococcal hosts. The mutation (position 891) creates an opal termination codon (TGA; behind codon 61) in the coding sequence of the open reading frame C. The nucleotide sequence of this plasmid corresponds with the EMBL Nucleotide Sequence Database accession number LT727420.1. The nucleotide sequence of the pC194 vector corresponds with the EMBL Nucleotide Sequence Database accession number V01277.1. |
